When Instagram first released IG Reels, I wasn’t an early adopter. Truthfully, I hoped they’d disappear so I wouldn’t have yet another thing to add to the list of ways to market my business. But then they didn’t go away. Instead, IG Reels became the best way to beat the algorithm and get your content seen on Insta.
Instagram is literally pushing out Reels to their viewers through the Explore Tab. There’s no easier way to get in front of your followers and prospective clients. IG Reels are also appearing first when you search for hashtags, which is great for visibility since there are fewer people doing Reels right now.
I quickly started to see the benefits of Reels and couldn’t keep ignoring them, so in late September of 2020, I started to experiment with IG Reels for my brides over on my @IdaliaPhotography account. The results have been amazing! My Reels are getting so much more engagement than my posts, and they keep getting views days, weeks, even months later. The lifespan of a Reel is so much better than that of a simple photo post or IG story.
